Healing Looks Like You
Our nervous systems are so intelligent that it takes very little for them to reconnect to their innate rhythm of resilience and literally re-member themselves. Whatever you are experiencing, whatever resources your body is using, regardless of whether they appear helpful or unhelpful, is actually your body trying to resource itself. This is why I always say, Healing looks like you! Not the future you, not the past you. Healing looks like you right now. When you learn to speak to your body in the language it understands, your own healing power is put back into your hands.

Somatic Reparenting Flow
MONDAYS 6:30 pm PST | Online
A rhythmic, body‑based exploration of reparenting using the principles of Somatic Experiencing® and Somatic Science®.
We practice pendulation, titration, and grounding to expand capacity for sensation and emotion. Each flow sequence mirrors the loving adult’s role—meeting the inner child with patience, curiosity, and care—so participants can embody repair rather than just understand it.

Somatic Experiencing sessions facilitate embodied trauma recovery by using the language of the nervous system. “Soma” simply means “body.” Our bodies may not speak English, but they are very intelligent and have many distinct ways of communicating. I will teach you how to listen to your nervous system and speak to it in the language it understands.
Trauma is not merely what happens to us; it is the way our autonomic nervous system responds to those events. When we face overwhelming experiences or prolonged periods of lack, our nervous systems instinctively choose protective responses to help us survive. Thank you, Body!
These responses (flight, fight, freeze) are intended to be temporary. However, in humans, these reactions often become stuck, leading to chronic states of hypervigilance, hypertonicity (tension patterns in the body), hypotonicity (numbness or disconnection from the body), and constant exhaustion.
Somatic Experiencing® is a body-oriented therapeutic model that focuses on embodied trauma recovery. It is the lifelong work of Dr. Peter Levine.
These sessions are done online or in person, seated in a chair. Together we listen to your nervous system and see what is most supportive to it in the moment. From here there emerges a conversation where you and I listen together and decide which path to follow next.
This approach is non-pathologizing, non-clinical, and allows the body to choose the pace and physiological content to focus on. I will teach you how to settle and release biological activation from your body, facilitating nervous system regulation. You will learn the simplest and most up-to-date methods to update your nervous system to the present, allowing you more freedom to be curious, engaged with life, and at ease with yourself.
SE invites the body’s intelligence forward, allowing us to expand our awareness of the container of our body so there is more space for emotions and experiences to move in, through, and out.
My approach to trauma resolution is guided by my embodied understanding of the science of human healing and connection, as illuminated by Somatic Experiencing® International, The Polyvagal Theory, and Somatic Science®. Through my direct experience, I have found that blending these modalities with the ancient wisdom of Advaita Vedanta and Zhineng Qi Gong creates a direct path to healing and happiness.
This embodied learning has brought me peace without the need for constant physical movement or mental distraction and allowed me to rediscover my joy for being human. I look forward to sharing it with you!

SE COREGULATORY TOUCHWORK:
This in-person work is optional. It can be integrated within an SE session or the focus of a session.
This work centers the use of coregulatory touch (making contact with the body in a way that does not involve manipulation) as a way to support the self-communication between the individual and their body’s narrative and memory in service of healing.

My teaching flows from the yoga science of Advaita Vedanta (nonduality), as I have experienced it through many traditions, teachers, and practices.
My classes are grounded in choice and the neuroscience of human healing and connection. You can expect movement/asana that is accessible alongside somatic inquiry/svadhyaya that is curious and compassionate.
As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner® and Trauma-Informed Yoga teacher, I blend Somatic Experiencing with yoga to support nervous system responsiveness and resilience.
I teach nervous-system-intelligent classes that allow us to leave class more resourced and connected to our inner and outer supports.
I have been a registered yoga teacher since 2013. My teaching is strongly informed by my embodied understanding of Somatic Experiencing, Zhineng Qigong, and the science of Yoga Biomechanics.
I look forward to being with you.

I love the consent based language surrounding the instruction and movements. I came to this class with little Yoga experience and it’s been so great to reconnect with my own body and learn how to listen to it. I didn’t grow up in a space where that was encouraged and it has been extremely healing to relearn in a safe and warm environment.
Monique is wonderful at creating a space that feels safe, that encourages me to remain curious and also have fun with the movement!
The containers Monique creates are so rare and profoundly special. I have been coming to her class for over a year as a devotional practice every week because it is a place where I can show up exactly as I am and move as my body needs without judgement.
By the end of her class, I feel so connected to my sensations and emotions through her beautiful inquiries. There is an art to the way she teaches and the way she holds space for the complexities of being human. I didn't really enjoy yoga before coming to her class. I never felt like I had permission to move the way my body needed to move if that was different from what was being taught.
I had a lot of trauma in fact, from classes where my body was made to be wrong for what it couldn't do. This has been a place of safety for me to come back home to my body and find what feels good for me. I truly wish that every human could experience a place like this with so much permission and safety.
Monique’s class has provided me with the space to reconnect to myself. After significant trauma and loss, my nervous system was in need of serious care.
Learning to hear myself in a deeper way and doing that through autonomous connection to my physiology has changed my life.
Monique is a caring safe and trauma-informed teacher. She leads the class AND still gives space for modification.
Grateful for mornings on the porch!
I leave each class feeling more connected to myself and to the people around me. That sounds simple, but the feeling is truly profound. She is light, steady and joyful, while able to reach into the depths of the human experience. She speaks language into things I have only felt in my body before. Monique always prioritizes individual needs over trying to fit the mold of a certain ideal.
